Christopher McQuarrie wrote and directed the upcoming American action spy film Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. It will be the seventh and penultimate instalment in the Mission: Impossible film series, and McQuarrie’s third, following Rogue Nation and Fallout.

Top 10 Facts of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part One (Trivia)

  1. Only Tom Cruise and Ving Rhames have appeared in all seven films in the series. Since the third film, Simon Pegg has appeared in all of them.
  2. During filming in the United Kingdom, Tom Cruise allegedly went on at least two rants against crew members for violating COVID-19 guidelines (i.e. standing less than two metres apart), prompting at least five crew members to quit. One rant was expletive-laden and was first published by the United States Sun. Some celebrities, including George Clooney, have come out in support of Tom Cruise.
  3. Twelve people on the set tested positive for COVID-19 while filming in Italy. As a result, when filming resumed in the United Kingdom, Tom Cruise personally paid £500,000 for an old cruise ship to house the cast and crew.
  4. Mission: Impossible II is set to be released 27 years after the original film (1996).
  5. Tom Cruise will be 61 years old when the film is released on July 14, 2023.
  6. An unnamed Tom Cruise production, possibly Mission: Impossible 7, will have authentic shots taken aboard the International Space Station, according to NASA’s official Twitter in May 2020. If all goes well, this will be the first narrative feature film shot in space.
  7. A preserved Britannia class steam locomotive (curiously disguised as a French engine) is destroyed by falling over a cliff into a quarry. This, however, was a specially commissioned non-functioning stunt replica.
  8. This film, along with its sequel Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part Two (2024), will be the first Mission: Impossible films to be shot entirely in digital, as opposed to the previous six films, which were shot on 35mm film.
  9. Tom Cruise is now older than Jon Voight was in the first Mission: Impossible (1996) (Voight was 57 at the time, whereas Cruise was 57 when filming began, 59 when it finally wrapped, and 61 when it is released).
  10. BMW, as in the previous four instalments, has extensive product placement of its cars and motorcycles throughout the film. In a lengthy car chase in Rome, Ethan and Grace each drive a 2022 BMW M5 CS, which is shown at one point with all four doors missing. In one of the series’ most elaborate stunts yet, Ethan drives a BMW motorcycle off a cliff.
